SUPERHOT: Six Months Later
“Quite frankly, I think Superhot is absolutely bloody fantastic, and one of the best examples of how a single idea can be iterated upon to create dozens of clever scenarios.”
- The Jimquisition
What is it?
SUPERHOT is a first person shooter by independent developer group SUPERHOT Team which uses a unique game mechanic where time moves as the player does. Over time it's like you're Jason Bourne and Chev Chelios rolled into one, and it feels incredible!
At launch there were several reports of graphical issues and even some crashing, both of which were patched out fairly quickly. Outside of that there were lists of smaller bugs including some collision issues, frame rate and lighting.
SUPERHOT is now available in 10 languages and there have been numerous updates to fix the aforementioned minor bugs and errors. The game was even featured at SXSW where it won the Gamer's Voice Single Player Award.
It was announced in June that we're going to be getting some free DLC in the future, which includes elements of procedural generation, new locations, and new scenarios. To help cope with that and other content going forward, the team has recently expanded and are in the process of building a new office. SUPERHOT is also due to be released in VR for the Oculus Rift by the end of the year and I can't wait to get my hands on it!
