Top 5 Crowdfunding Projects in May
It's the last day of the month which means we're putting together our top 5 games currently being crowdfunded. There's a good mix this month with three video games and a couple of board games thrown in there too.
As Kotaku's Logan Booker so accurately put it, "Phoenix Point Is the fusion of XCOM and Fallout we all want". With the original creators of XCOM behind this project, I can't wait to play it once it's released.
Pixel art has come a long way since it's heyday and the range of motion shown in this trailer demonstrates that. Castlevania-esque in style, Blasphemous looks like it'll seriously give you the creeps when playing it.
This MMORPG is trying to do what many games can't. Make the player's actions matter in the overall scheme of things. It's a daunting task to take on, but the guys at Intrepid Studios have assembled a very capable team and I'm looking on with great interest.
Did you like Overcooked? Would you like to play a board game version of it? Then you should probably check out the Kitchen Rush Kickstarter. It's all about time management in the kitchen in what I'm sure would be a very intense multiplayer experience.
Last but definitely not least is a project near and dear to this website's past. When we first started Six Months Later Gaming, one of our very first articles was about Hand of Fate by Defiant Development. At the time we were even lucky enough to get an interview with studio director Morgan Jaffit, who gave us the exclusive scoop about Hand of Fate 2 before it had been announced.
I will never forget that, and I'm thrilled to see this Australian IP flourish and expand in different directions alongside fellow Brisbane company Rule & Make. The Kickstarter campaign only has a couple of pledges (the base game and the base game with expansions), but it has already exceeded the original goal by more than six times over. It's going to come out, so you just need to ask yourself if you're going to grab a copy.
